Workstation Curriculum Packages
Each Construction Zone Workstation comes equipped with a self-directed curriculum package. Academic concepts are reinforced as students understand the real-life applications of math, science, and reading. Hands-on activities motivitate students to learn and to demonstrate what they have learned.
Instruction (Curriculum) Manual
Each manual is provided in a three-ring binder, with pages contained in page protectors. Using full color photographs, each manual provides the following:
An optional audio component that follows the manual word-for-word is available. Contact us for a quote.
- Career Component: Each trainer introduces the student to an idea of what it would be like to actually work in that trade, including information on job conditions, necessary education or training, and income potential.
- Terminology and Identification of Equipment: The student is introduced to the key terms and definitions pertaining to each trade, and to the equipment and materials unique to that trade.
- Step-by-Step Activities: Once introduced to career information, terminology, and equipment, the student begins a "hands on" work experience, using professional tools . Full color photographs, diagrams, and clear step-by-step directions guide the student through projects or tasks.
Each day, students demonstrate their understanding of workstation projects by writing in a workbook, defining terms, identifying tools, and explaining concepts and activities covered in that lesson. A master copy of the workbook is included in the instructor's guide.
Student Work Order
Students fill out a work order as they progress through the hands-on activities, keeping track of materials and hours on the job, as they would in a job situation. Thirty copies are included, and a master copy of the work order is included in the instructor's guide.
Thirty answer sheets are provided to be used for the pre/post test, and a master copy is included in the instructor's guide.
The instructor's guide is an all-inclusive teaching tool providing instructors every resource needed to supervise and conduct the workstation program, with no trade skills experience needed. The guide includes information about workstation safety and classroom preparation, as well as instructor suggestions for each workstation. It also includes answer keys and a master copy of answer sheets, work orders, and workbook.
